The Humble Beginning

Sindh Academy originally founded by Late Professor Muhammad Umer Memon, a well known educationist as well as politician, in 1993, as a welfare project for the Sindhi community. Housed in a rented bungalow in Phase 1 of Qasimabad, Hyderabad.

Due to ill health Professor Memon decided hand the school over to someone with devotion and proven background in education. He therefore spoke with Dr. Khalique and Mrs. Najma Khalique Shaikh to pass the batten this responsibility, which they accepted. So, in 1994, Sindh Academy was transferred to Dr and Mrs. Shaikh. Sindh Academy has since been governed by Sindh Adacemy Society (duly registered under the Society's Act XXI, of 1860).

Between Dr. Khalique and Mrs. Najma Khalique Shaikh brought to the administration, an collective experience of approximately 40 years as educationalists and administrators. There hard work and professionalism was soon recognised by the community of Sindh Academy became a symbol of "quality" and "affordable" education.

Upgrade

The New Building

Under the vision and devotion of Dr. Khalique and Mrs. Najma Khailque Shaikh the school flourished and by 2000 new admissions could not be accepted because of the lack of capacity and space. The school administration requested the Federal and Provincial Government for allocation of land to construct a purpose built facility.

In 2001, late Mr. Aftab Ahmed Soomro, the then President of Revenue Employees Cooperative Housing Society, approached Dr. Khalique and Mrs. Najma with an opportunity to purchase an amenity plot which was allocated for a school. The land was part of a new settlement in Revenue Cooperative Housing Society, in Phase 2 of Qasimabad. Though it meant over-stretching their financial position, Dr. and Mrs. Shaikh decide to buy this land.

Over the next two years, the building works took place and on March 31st, 2003, Sindh Academy was officially relocated to the new campus, far bigger and far more beautiful then the old campus.

Sindh Academy was also upgraded and re-registered as Sindh Academy High School June 4th 2003. Student of class 8th became the first batch to be promoted to class 9th at Sindh Academy High School, which mark the achievement of yet another significant milestone.

Refurbishments

To ensure the high quality and effectiveness of education provided at Sindh Academy High School, the management recently invested in modernising the school facilities and refurbish the building.

The school now has a state of the art Computer and Science Laboratories and a school-wide WiFi network which have become essential in modern teaching methods. The Preschool section has also been upgraded to a provide a welcoming atmosphere to the young minds.

Looking at the current electrical power supply condition and possible future forecast of its problems, the school management took a major decision to go completely off-grid and use Solar system to power the school. Sindhi Doctor's Association of United Kingdom generously agreed to donate such system and now the Solar panels are providing uninterrupted power supply for daily use.

With the present the law and order situation, it has become paramount to keep the security of the school up to date. To this end, a sophisticated array of Security cameras and Security guards ensure tight security against any untoward event.

A beautiful Mosque/Masjid has also been added to the campus facilities to provide the much needed religious education to the school students and the near community as Sadaqah-e-Jahiriya.

The Future

In future to come, the school management plans to extend the classrooms and laboratories by constructing the upper level of the school. This will increase the capacity of the school where more students can become a part of the Sindh Academy High School alma mater.
